Your journey into Fiordland
- Step 1 Te Anau Downs to the top of Middle Arm, Lake Te Anau by boat
An hour boat journey from Te Anau Downs across Lake Te Anau to the head of Middle Arm, via the stunning Doubtful Islands.
- Step 2 Bushwalk to Lake Hankinson
Follow your guide through a short 25-minute bushwalk through the beech forest to the hidden lake.
- Step 3 Boat journey up Lake Hankinson
Enjoy a 25-minute boat journey up Lake Hankinson to Wapiti River and the Hankinson Hut, deep into Fiordland National Park.
- Step 4 Explore Hankinson Hut and Wapiti River
Spend time exploring the Fiordland bush around Hankinson Hut (built in 1928) and the clear waters of the Wapiti River flowing past. Catch the boat back across Lake Hankinson.
- Step 5 Bushwalk to Middle Arm
Return the way you came with a 25-minute bushwalk back to the head of Middle Arm and your waiting water taxi.
- Step 6 Middle Arm to Te Anau Downs by boat
Relax and enjoy the scenery on your return 50-minute boat journey back to Te Anau Downs.
