GEORGE SOUND TRACK TRANSPORT
Getting you there and back with ease
Catch the water taxi across Lake Te Anau and Lake Hankinson to access the wild and remote George Sound, Te Houhou.
Your transport package to the George Sound Track includes a return boat journey across Lake Te Anau and a return boat journey up Lake Hankinson. Alternatively, a popular option is to fly to George Sound, Te Houhou, by helicopter and hike back to Hankinson Hut to meet your water taxi transfer back to Te Anau Downs.
We run a charter service for drop-offs and pick-ups to Hankinson Hut. A standard charter rate applies for up to five people. For more than five people, a per person rate applies.

Hike the George Sound route, a four-day point-to-point walk for experienced hikers finishing in George Sound, Te Houhou.
- Water Taxis Lake Te Anau + Lake Hankinson Pick up or drop off Hankinson Hut

With water taxis on both Lake Hankinson and Lake Te Anau, you can choose a drop off to Hankinson Hut or a pick up. Lake Te Anau water taxi departs and returns to Te Anau Downs where there is parking available.
