Milford Track from Te Anau Downs
- Step 1 Morning and afternoon boat from Te Anau Downs to Glade Wharf

Bus or self-drive 25 minutes to Te Anau Downs and meet the water taxi for a 50-minute boat journey up Lake Te Anau to Glade Wharf and the start of the Milford Track. You can choose to make the most of your day and get there before the crowds arrive with our daily departures at 11.30am, or choose our later departure time of 2.00 pm.
There is free parking at Te Anau Downs and the option to have your vehicle relocated to Milford Sound, so your vehicle is waiting for you when you get off the boat at the end of the hike. Or book a bus to take you back to your vehicle at Te Anau Downs, where you started.

Hike the four-day Milford Track Great Walk.
- Step 3 Water taxi from Sandfly Point to Milford Sound

At the end of the Milford Track (Sandfly Point), meet your water taxi for a short boat journey across to Deepwater Basin in Milford Sound.
Our boat runs back and forth from 12pm-4.30pm and can be taken at any time between then. Book with us for the VIP treatment at Sandfly Point, as we start 2 hours earlier than the other boat. We can transport you to the Milford Cafe, to then wait for your bus in comfort.
- Step 4 Bus, self-drive or own arrangements back to Te Anau Downs

Transport options include a bus transfer out of Milford Sound (1.5 hours back to Te Anau Downs), vehicle relocation, or make your own arrangements. Buses leave daily at 2.30pm from Milford Sound.
Book a vehicle relocation service and we'll arrange to deliver your vehicle from Te Anau Downs to Milford Sound. Your car will be a welcome sight, just a few minutes walk from where you get off the boat.
