A 2.5-hour bus or self-drive journey from Queenstown to Te Anau Downs. Enjoy the views without the hassle of driving yourself, or ask us about vehicle relocation options if you're self-driving.
Bus departs Queenstown CBD daily at 8am to connect with the 11.30am water taxi at Te Anau Downs. For a later start choose the 10.15am bus which connects with the 2pm water taxi at Te Anau Downs.

Meet the water taxis at Te Anau Downs for a 50-minute journey up Lake Te Anau to Glade Wharf, the start of the Milford Track.
You can make the most of your day with our 11.30am water taxi departure, or enjoy a later start with our 2pm departure.

Hike the four-day Milford Track Great Walk. Enjoy and take all the photos! Your Hut Tickets are booked through the Department of Conservation (DOC).
- Step 4 Water taxi from the Track end (Sandfly Point) to Milford Sound

At the end of the Milford Track (Sandfly Point), meet your skipper for a short water taxi journey across to Deepwater Basin in Milford Sound.
Our water taxi runs back and forth from 12pm-4.30pm and can be taken at any time between then. Book with us for the VIP treatment at Sandfly Point that is the earliest available by 2 hours. We can then transport you to wait for your bus in comfort at the Milford Cafe.
- Step 5 Bus, self-drive or fly from Milford Sound to Queenstown

Arriving back in Milford Sound, you have the option to catch the bus back to Queenstown, fly or meet your relocated vehicle. Allow around 4.5 hours for the journey from Milford Sound to Queenstown.
Book a vehicle relocation service and we'll arrange to deliver your vehicle from Te Anau Downs to Milford Sound. Your vehicle will be a welcome sight, just a few minutes' walk from where you get off the boat in Milford Sound.
