Milford Track from Te Anau
- Step 1 Bus or self-drive from Te Anau to Te Anau Downs

A 25-minute bus journey or drive your own vehicle from Te Anau to Te Anau Downs. Bus departs daily at 11am to meet the 11.30am boat and 1.25 pm to meet the 2pm boat.
There is free parking at Te Anau Downs and the option to have your car relocated to Milford Sound so your vehicle is waiting for you when you get off the boat at the end of the hike or book a bus.
- Step 2 Morning or afternoon boat from Te Anau Downs to Glade Wharf

A 50-minute boat journey across Lake Te Anau to Glade Wharf and the start of the Milford Track.
You can choose to make the most of your day and get there before the crowds arrive with our daily departures at 11.30am or choose our later departure of 2.00 pm.

Hike the four-day Milford Track Great Walk.
- Step 4 Boat from Sandfly Point to Milford Sound

At the end of the Milford Track (Sandfly Point), meet your water taxi for a short boat journey across to Deepwater Basin at Milford Sound.
The boat runs back and forth from 12.30pm-4pm and can be taken at any time between then.
- Step 5 Bus or self-drive back to Te Anau

Transport options include a bus transfer out of Milford Sound (1.5 hours back to Te Anau Downs), vehicle relocation, or make your own arrangements. Buses leave daily at 2.30pm from Deepwater Basin.
Book a vehicle relocation service and we'll arrange to deliver your vehicle from Te Anau Downs to Milford Sound. Your vehicle will be a welcome sight, just a few minutes' walk from where you get off the boat.
