- Step 1 Bus or self-drive from Te Anau to Te Anau Downs

A 25-minute bus journey or drive your own vehicle from Te Anau to Te Anau Downs. Bus departs daily at 11am to connect with the 11.30am water taxi and 1.25 pm to connect with the 2pm water taxi.
There is free parking at Te Anau Downs and the option to have your car relocated to Milford Sound so your vehicle is waiting for you when you get off the water taxi at the end of the hike or book a return bus.

Meet the water taxis at Te Anau Downs for a 50-minute journey up Lake Te Anau to Glade Wharf, the start of the Milford Track.
You can make the most of your day with our 11.30am water taxi departures, or enjoy a later start with our 2pm departure.
- Step 3 Hike the Milford Track – 4 days

Hike the four-day Milford Track Great Walk. Enjoy and take all the photos! Your Hut Tickets are booked through the Department of Conservation (DOC).
- Step 4 Water taxi from the Track end (Sandfly Point) to Milford Sound

At the end of the Milford Track (Sandfly Point), meet your skipper for a short water taxi journey across to Deepwater Basin in Milford Sound.
Our water taxi runs back and forth from 12pm-4.30pm and can be taken at any time between then. Book with us for the VIP treatment at Sandfly Point that is the earliest available by 2 hours. We can then transport you to wait for your bus in comfort at the Milford Cafe.

Transport options include a bus transfer from Milford Sound (1.5 hours back to Te Anau Downs), vehicle relocation, or make your own arrangements. Buses leave daily at 2.30pm and 5pm from Milford Sound.
Book a vehicle relocation service and we'll arrange to deliver your vehicle from Te Anau Downs to Milford Sound. Your vehicle will be a welcome sight, just a few minutes' walk from where you get off the water taxi.
